Employees in an Aquarium

I flip on their fluorescent light at 6:30 p.m.

Flick some flake food to the fish

Watch them dart and veer and snarf

And at 10:30 p.m. I snap off their light

End of their day.

Good night, Swordtails.

I’m in charge at the Fish House.

The master of their liquid domain.

And although I follow a regular schedule

They never really know what’s up.

Kinda like what happens with far too many employees

Who have the lights flicked on and off

By someone they don’t know and have barely seen

It can be scary not knowing

Unless you hired fish brains.

In which case, you have bigger problems than when to turn off the lights.
