Burning the Moonlight Oil

Want to get ahead in business? Get up, get outta bed.

Burn the moonlight oil.

You see, any chump can burn the midnight oil. A mere slacker can daydream and rearrange papers on his desk all day, then start getting really busy when others are leaving. It doesn’t take a lot of imagination to drag ass, then show a big flourish when the boss comes around to say goodbye for the day.

I haven’t known any successful execs who burned the midnight oil. But every single super successful exec that I know burns the moonlight oil. They get up earlier than everyone else. And they’re ready to conquer the world while the moon is still shining.

It’s your choice. You can say you’re not a morning person. You can say you’re in touch with your biorhythms and that they don’t peak until the afternoon and early evening. You can sleep. Or realize it’s time to make the donuts.
