What’s the Official Bird of HR?

Here’s a little quiz for you this morning. What’s the official bird of HR? Quick. What first came to mind?

An Ostrich? You have a sense of humor. And just enough cynicism to make you fun to be around at after-work events. Of course, you know ostriches don’t bury their heads in the sand. They’re the biggest and fastest birds on earth. And they lay the biggest eggs. Just like some of the HR policies you’ve seen over the years.

An Eagle? You’re bold. You cheer for a bird that was once on the brink of extinction, but came back. You’re a raptor of the business crowd. And you like eagles because they eat lots of fish, which fits perfectly into your wellness campaign. Just remember to keep those talons tucked away until you really need to use them.

A Dodo? No you didn’t. You didn’t say “Dodo bird.” You’re so nasty. (Come sit next to me.) You just said “dodo” because you’re funny. Not unlike the dodo bird, you like people. And you’re working on making the words “Human Capital” extinct. You know the idea of the people business won’t ever go away.

Your turn. What came to mind as the official bird of HR?

Bonus Bird-Brained Idea
Here’s the perfect gift for your HR friends who don’t want to deal with employees or business issues. It’s called The Ostrich Pillow.
