Do Something or Do Nothing

Here’s a little business advice to the HR types out there. If your people talk about doing things and don’t actually do the thing they talk about…you don’t need them.

I’m not saying that everyone has to get his hands dirty and not everyone has to crack stuff out. But I’ve seen way too many people in my career who have been the talkers and not the doers. Talkers don’t make you money. Talkers make meetings.

As times get tougher, I think it’s legit to ask people, “What do you actually do?” If most of what they do is watch other people do what they do….then, you have to wonder why they’re at your shop.
