Patience is a Virtue

“Lord, give me patience, but give it to me now.” (That’s a smart aleck prayer I used to mutter when Sister Marie Claire said, “Mr. Roche, you might want to consider a little more patience. Patience is a virtue.” Then she’d twist my ear.)

Patience is a virtue, sure, but people mustn’t be all that interested in virtue these days. They don’t want to wait. I don’t either.

When I listen to music, I want it to start on the first beat. I want my TV to have “instant on.” And I want my web pages to load in tenths of a second.

In the HR communication business, you might do yourself a good turn to give ‘em what they want. And now.

Leave the virtue training to Sister Marie Claire.

Patience is overrated.
