They’re Using Their Cars as Umbrellas

My train was noticeably emptier today. Know why? It’s raining.

I was talking about this with my colleague, Sophie, this morning. She said, “They’re using their cars as umbrellas.”

I’d never heard that phrase. She said, “It’s something we say in Hungary.”

And that made me think about diversity. Too often, when we say “diversity” we think of it in only skin colors. But diversity of *thought* is where the big ideas come from.

Here’s a TED Talk by Patricia Ryan called Don’t Insist on English. Her money line is about asking Einstein to pass an ESL test.
