Daylight Savings Time is a One-Day Boon for Slackers

See that picture? That’s on my walk this morning with Snickers the Wonder Dog. Pitch black. When I walked her at 5:45 on Friday, dawn was breaking. Now we’re back to the darkness.

I like it when it’s light in the morning. I wake up fairly early. Probably earlier than most people. And I like to take in the first light of day. That won’t be happening for another month or more now because of Daylight Savings TIme.

Which made me think about how DST is a one-day boon for slackers. How many offices will have people come in and say they didn’t know we turned the clocks ahead one hour in the U.S. yesterday? And how much productivity is lost? Then again, I suppose that people who use DST as an excuse to come in an hour late once a year probably aren’t that productive any morning.
