Every Day Should Be Play Day

Friday is a bit of a play day at IFRACTAL. We have a big breakfast together in the morning. People drift in. We drink coffee. Eat bacon. Have some laughs. Then we ease into work for a while.

Then the bags of ice arrive around 3pm.

Drinks.

Today is Mad Men Day. We’re having Pink Poodles, Whisky Sours and Tom Collins.

We think play day is important. So does Joe Robison, who wrote The Key to Happiness: Is It Taboo for Adults? about adults and their reluctance to play:

Grownups aren’t supposed to play. We have problems. We’re too busy. We have important things to do. It turns out, though, that there are few things more important to your happiness than frequent doses of play. As a study led by Princeton researcher Alan Krueger found, of all the things on the planet, we’re at our happiest when we’re involved in engaging leisure activities. Why not do more of that?

C’mon over this afternoon if you’re in the area. We’ll be playing.
